Just when you thought modern music could never light a candle to the fire of the glory days of the British rock and indie scene of yesteryear, up steps the plucky Mersey-sider Louis Berry. Berry, who this writer has seen live supporting both Richard Ashcroft and Liam Gallagher in Dublin a few years back has finally cemented himself as a force to be reckoned with by releasing his latest single titled The Other Side, just a glimpse of what’s to come in his young career in the spotlight (not to say he hasn’t been in this game years prior).
The release of his EP, XIV, which was met with praise from both fans and critics alike has spring boarded him to the forefront of the modern revival of British rock, not seen since the glory days of Oasis and The Verve. This single has only strengthened my faith in this man as he moves forward in what can only be predicted as a career full of success and promise. Berry’s trademark gravelly voice accompanied with classic guitar riffs are a recipe for success in a world so drained of meaningful and consistent music. Definitely one to watch out for in the coming years and all power to him.
